This question isn't exactly a vintge camera one, but I'm hoping there are a few camera bugs here who can give me some hints.

I'm wondering what digital cameras can be recommended for taking closeup shots of magazines, prints, etc. I've tried a couple of the lower priced models and they never give me good results when taking anything close up. Either the picture comes out too blurry, the flash burns out the image, I get hot spots in the middle of the image, or all of the above.

Any hints on a good digital in a mid price range, say under $500, preferably in the $200-$300 range?
