Posted at September 12, 2006, 3:20 am: Hello all, I am new to vintage fabrics...hoping for some info concerning brand names. Also, how old does an accessory need to be before it is considered to be 'antique' or vintage? By the way, I totally agree with you all on the vintage explosion! Must be everywhere. On a recent yard sale 'adventure' I bought 3 old ladies hats. I don't have pics of them yet but can add that if it would help. I guess I'm more interested in finding out more about the maker or company at the moment...although figuring out what the heck they're called would be great as well (gotta feeling that could only happen with pics). Anyway, I've searched....and searched. Can't find anything. See if you recall anything or any part of the names, etc on the label/tag..... "WM Silverman New York" is on the label of the 1st hat. "Fair Field" Felts" (yes, it appears with a space between Fair & Field) On that same hat is "Newmann (something or another) Inc." The last one is "Norica and I think the last name is "Melange" Under that reads Henry and the last name begins with "Pollak---" New York. The last 3 letters might be ims but I cannot guarantee it. The lady whom I bought these from was totally handling this yard sale excellently along with another person helping her. She motored around on this scooter the whole time. As I talked with her, she mentioned that she was 97 years old! Other than the obvious scooter, you could tell that there was a lot of wisdom behind that fragile little voice. She also had hat boxes (some round, square and other odd shapes). None were in excellent condition but she included 2 of the round ones and one square one along with the hats I bought. One of the boxes has Kline's on the top of the box. I am going to assume that that was/is the name of a store but I'm not totally sure yet as that's the only one I haven't researched yet. I have no idea how old these hats or the boxes are. I wish I had asked her. Thanks for any information you might have.
