Posted at August 21, 2006, 10:03 am: Most of you that know me, know that I am all about free advertising...as much as possible.Anyway, about 3 weeks ago a customer came in and told me that I should try craigslist for some of my furniture that I have for sale in the store. she is from texas and said that everytime she puts furniture online there it is sold within an hour. So, I figured I would try it...it is free, this is not something you have to give out a bunch of information to registar, just a email address and passcode. You can put photos of your merchandise in the ad as well (they have a space for 4 photos). So, i put the furniture on and when you put your ad in, it will go for your area that you live in. I am sure there is a way to advertise world wide. Anyway, I got to thinking about it and figured I would try it for some of my vintage handbags. I put one handbag on just to see what would happen. Last week a woman came into my store and said she saw a handbag online. I thought she was talking about myspace or my website. She mentioned that it was on craigslist and I knew right away what purse she was talking about. She ended up spending $263.00 in my store. So, for those of you that like the free stuff, you might try craigslist and draw people to your website or to you b&M shop if you have one. Also, myspace is working rather well for me, I have had a few customers come into the store and purchase from me..again this is free and you can add photos of your merchandise and draw people to your website. good luck,LisaMoo http://myspace.com/charlestonculturevulture Vintage clothing, jewelry, hats, handbags, gloves and home decor from the 70's on back.
