I have an alpaca shawl (black) which was given to me by a family friend.
She made it in the 1950s when she was working for a fashion house in Venice, and it is in perfect condition. It was made in the fashion house (ie woven rather than knitted), but did not have a label since it was made for personal use. However, I believe that it was probably either Barbieri or Venetia Studium.

It measures 2 ft x 6 ft, with tassels (from the woven wool) at either end.

How much might such an item be worth (maximum estimate)? I need to know for insurance purposes.

Given your experience in such matters, I would very much appreciate hearing from you with your guesstimate.
