My store computer died the other day. The message said the hard drive could not be detected and there was no way to save any of the material on it. I usually copy any critical info to my home computer but some files and other info were only on this one. Fortunately I was able to buy another one at a garage sale for $5.00 a couple of days later. It is even better than the old one and with the same Windows 98 technology. I can still get along with that. I am used to being a few years behind the latest updates. The latest one has a CD player and copier but for some reason when I put a CD in to play no sound comes out from the media player. It works fine for playing radio, downloading discs, etc. and the CD seems to be playing according to the on screen images but no sound when I play a CD. Has anyone ran across a problem like that before? I have tried all the fixes I can find on the computer but nothing seems to acknowledge the problem or suggest a solution. I am happy to have a computer at all at this stage but it would also be nice to have all the functions work.

I did try the volume control but that did nothing.

Have you visually verified that the CD AUDIO cable is attached to your...

I am assuming that is something inside the computer.
