I was jsut having a discussion with a guy I work with who asked me something very interesting. In Citizen Kane, Charlie Kane is portrayed as a man incapable of loving, yet in need of being loved.
The question posed to me
"Does the death of his son and estranged wife aid in his inability to love, or was it already a part of his adult life?"
I told him I thought the latter, but I am not so sure. Using the movie's logic, CFK died inside the moment his mother signed him away. Yet, I cannot imagine the death of two so close to you would have no otehr affect. Perhaps it exacerbated the problem. So I put this forth to my fellow Mofo's.
