I just read on IMDb that this is in post-production.
I read the book by Arthur Golden several years ago and found it fascinating. It's his somewhat sexed up translation of conversations he had with an actual retired geisha - a very interesting read.

Rob Marshall directed, and the cast has some great talent:
Ziyi Zhang: (House of Flying Daggers, 2046) as Sayuri Nitta (central character)

Ken Watanabe : (Batman Begins, The Last Samuri) as The Chairman

Li Gong : (2046) as Hatsumono (the evil biotch)

I haven't found a planned release date yet, but I'm already looking forward to this.
