I'm using a POD, and I just can't get any metal tone to sound like I want it. Its either too distant and digital sounding, or its way to middy and lacks clarity at all.

I've tried for a few hours, and I'm no n00b to EQing. Tried all kinds of stuff, fiddling with patches and other people's patches. Making my own from scratch.

I have the metal shop pack. Are there any good mic/cab combos that work particularly well for metal?

Its just I can never get the clarity and the bite that I want with this thing.
