So lately I've been getting more into playing more bluesy/rock kinda of stuff, and getting more into lead playing. Right now I'm in a dm/hc band and I'm all set up for that, but I want someone I can come home and play with, and have good tone. My peavey 5150 combo is a bit too much to lug back and forth 2-3 times a week. I've noticed that Epiphone Valve Jr's are all the rage now and was thinking of asking for the combo for my birthday in three weeks. But I know that it isn't really suited for any distorted sounds, so what pedal would you recommend to be able to get some smooth lead sounds?
Btw I have a Schecter C-1 Blackjack, JB/59' pickups
EDIT- Or how about the Valve Special? I tried one of these out, but that was back when I turned on an amp and instantly went straight for teh supar hi gayn no midz hi trelbe. So I thought it sounded ****ty. But I'm not as stupid anymore, so would this amp be able to do what I'm lookin for?
