Posted at August 27, 2015, 11:26 pm: I am considering picking up a used Epiphone Wildkat (possibly on ebay). If anyone has one can you let me know how you like it? I'm mainly concerned with blues or bluesy rock. And I like Bigsby's. And I don't want to drop the cash for a Gretsch (played a few briefly, definitely like them). And I'm not big on flashy or obnoxious finishes. What's with these things? They're all sparkle red or bright green with gold hardware or turquoise. The basic black or blonde of the Wildkat is a definite plus. The Wildkat seems like a potential solution to my problem (... that 5 guitars aren't enough). It appears the body is much less wide than a standard Gretsch, does that make much difference in sound on an electric? Also I was thinking of picking up a Valve Jr eventually to go with it. I've been mainly acoustic up to this point but have decided it's time to ditch my Ibanez GAX70 and $50 Crate practice amp and get some gear that will crank out the blues. I only play in my house so I'm mainly concerned with tone. Anyone think a Wildkat (or other hollowbody) will not go well with a Valve Jr? If anyone happens to have a recording lying around of their Wildkat that they could share that would totally make my day. I've seen good reviews on this guitar on the Harmony Central reviews, but I'm sure someone here will have a differing opinion ANY other guitar recommendations are welcome though I'm pretty set on a hollowbody and need the Bigsby (have even considered getting an old Harmony archtop acoustic/electric but I already have an archtop acoustic).
