Okay so, because I'm naive and didn't think about the loads/resistances that my amp can handle, I attempted to run a cable straight from my amp to my computer's external soundcard hub (soundblaster audigy 2 zs plat pro). Needless to say, it didn't work, and made a crackling sound when I tried plugging it in, at which point I immediately unhooked it. I had to power-cycle my external soundcard unit to get rid of the static. I tried looking through the manual, but it doesn't mention the specific port loads, but now after rehooking up my cab (I forgot to mention that it was unhooked when I attempted to plug it into my comp), I get no sound at all. When I pluck hard on my bass strings, I can still see the input gauge register... just no more sound.
What am I looking at here? It's an Ashdown, and sending it to UK to repair sounds more costly than the amp itself. What kind of costs would I look at paying to get it fixed locally (if that's even possible)? Is there anything *I* can do to fix this? I *am* an electrical engineering major, but apparently I haven't gotten to the class yet where I'm supposed to use common sense and think before I act =/ But maybe I can open it up and poke around a bit?
It's an Ashdown Mag300H, and if I need to get it replaced, what would be a good alternative? I've been playing for 2 years, but nothing serious, just play along to some RHCP, Tool, Incubus, etc. Man this sucks. Oh well
