Posted at October 27, 2015, 4:44 pm: Ugh I can't believe this happened. Here's the story. I was getting paid 250 dollars to clear 2 trees out of my neighbors yard. The job went off without a hitch. I got done in about 10 minutes, so I have no idea why it was worth this much money. Everything came crashing down however, when I went to put my tools away. The chainsaw I was using was their's, and I didn't want to leave it dirty. Knowing it was gas powered, I emptied all the gas so it wouldn't start while I was cleaning. That didn't stop it from happening...I accidentally hit the engage button while I was cleaning and it flew up at my shoulder. In a flury of red I wrestled it off me and ran. As I came outside all I saw were people screaming as I realized that both my arms were gone. 2 ambulances in a fire truck led me to the hospital as i cringed at the unbelievable pain going through me. I lost 2 liters of blood but I remained conscious the whole time. My arms were never reattached, because of the damage done by the chainsaw. As I recovered, painfully, the first thing I asked the doctor was....if i would ever play bass again. He said he doubted it...and that it looked grim for my bass playing days. Even with therapy, I don't think this looks good for me. The moral: Everyone go play your favorite instrument now while you're capable. I may have lost my favorite capability. I'm sitting here near tears because my world came crashing down. Imagine being in my position right now. You never know...when this may happen to you.
