Posted at May 29, 2015, 12:27 am: I've had some bad luck from some other "gigs" I've done. Yesterday wasn't one of them. It's one of those days where, even if everything isn't great, it is still an amazing day. I went out with some friends for some drinks, so we got quite happy. The "concert" was gonna start at 6:00 P.M., but we were the last band out of five, so we arrived at 7:00 (We had already talked with the other bands about who was going to bring what and when, so we being late didn't affect at all, for any of you who want to say "Irresponsible bitch"). Anyways, my drummer, my vocalist/guitarist and me arrived. The other guitarist still wasn't there, and he was bringing all the instruments. No worries.... We started watching the groups, and to be sincere, they all sounded like crap. It wasn't their fault though, the audio of the place sounded like ****, which was weird, because earlier we had tried it out and it sounded ok. So... the third band starts to play, and my guitarist hasn't come yet! I start getting mad, I call him, and he doesn't arrive. So I have to call him and tell him that people are waiting on us, because he is the only one who hasn't came. Of couse I lied, but if I would've told him "Dude! There's two bands ahead of us and some of them are breaking the laws of the contest by playing more songs" he would've taken more time to come. He came, and everything was cool. We played, and man... I LOVED IT! It's the first time that people REALLY got into it. I mean, they were clapping, they were dancing, they were yelling out "FOREPLAY! FOREPLAY!" (Our band's name). It was great! Here's something I truly loved, and had no idea it was gonna happen. One of the songs has a bass solo. It's supposed to be only bass and simple drums. So I start doing the solo, and because the guitarist have nothing to do.... they start worshipping me! I mean, they got in their knees, they left their guitars on the floor, and they started to adore me! Then the drummer stops playing too and starts doing the same! That was a great detail, and I'm so dissapointed that my vocalist's girlfriend didn't took a photo of that! I mean, I would've killed to see the picture of it! A great show... and this is where we ruined everything . As some of you may know, I'm from Mexico, so obviously, I speak spanish. So words with Ch (like Chihuahua) are very common. The girl interviewer had this obsession of saying EVERYTHING with CH. Muchachos (guys), chavos (boys), chicos, blah blah. All of them meaning the same thing, but come on! The worst thing? This girl is like "MUSHASHOS!", like SHHHH. It was very amusing to us. So she starts interviewing us... And what do we do!? We make fun of her.... on T.V! She interviews my vocalist, which didn't made a joke, just made people cheer for us. Then she interviewed my guitarist... and he starts saying a LOT of "CH" words to make fun of her. The crowd got it, and they started laughing. Then she goes to my drummer, but she says "Here's the drummer! RUDY! RUDY! RUDY" (Rudy is a drummer from a show that airs in mexico, he's a drummer that always does a solo, and everytime, the crowd starts chanting his name). What does my drummer do? Remains silent, looks at us, looks at the crowd, and just says "Yeah...." which made us laugh. Then she goes to me, asking for my name, and I just say "Well.... they call me.... Menon (don't ask).... MUSHASHA!" which makes the people laugh again. We acted pretty rockstar about it, but we couldn't resist it. We may have looked like spatulas, but the crowd loved it. Anyways, we didn't won. Someone said we got DQ'd... and no wonder why! One of the bands that won only played Metallica covers , another one was your average hardcore band, and the other one was mainly supported by crowd, but people obviously were into us much more than them. Thanks for the support on the other thread where my other contest ended up like a huge failure. I guess this wasn't a success either, but it was 1000 times more entertaining.
