Am i correct when i say that most bassists will alternate their index and middle fingers when playing finger style when going to a higher string, and then 'rake' i think its called, when coming back from a higher string to a lower string? Like use the same finger to come down.

'Cause I just saw a video of flea and I think he alternates all the time whether going up or down.. so I was just wondering what you guys do and whats the most efficient way..
