I'm looking at getting another different bass drum, to offset my 20x18 (that's 18 deep) That size would probably be big enough for most people, but I have an extreme love for the low end.
So I was wondering, what would be the biggest bass drum you could have without sacrificing feeling, since I've heard bad things about rediculously large bass drums on the forums, in terms of the way it feels. Do 22" bass drums feel weird to anyone? Or should I look for the bassier sound in the depth? Would a 22x22 bass drum be rediculous?
Also, what head combination would yield the deepest bassiest sound? Right now I use an Aquarian Super Kick II, which I fawking LOVE and a PowerStroke 3 on the reso, with a 6" hole, all of which has no muffling inside the drum, besides the powerkick muffling of course. . I'm looking more for reccomendations on the reso because the 6" hole isn't needed anymore becuase I have a new smaller kick mic.
Basically, how big of a bass can I get without the head feeling like mush?

you could definately go more diameter/ less depth.

The deeper the width of the drum, the more force it takes to push air ...
Hence the use of triggers most of the time.
