I recently went out to get some evans head to experiment with different heads.. before i was using coated ambs and my drums sounded fantastic..
With evans g2s they still sound great, however theres always a 'plasticy' sound to the tone of the drum(mainly toms).
Im just wondering is this just me? or are other people experiencing the same thing?

yup, ive got the same problem with the g2s.

a clear head will always have more attack than coated.

what a coincidence, I just bought a coated evans g2 for my snare today...

WyrmDL: yea there coated g2s aswell.

It might have something to do with G2's being two-ply while Ambs are o...

I have g2s over g1s and I do kinda hear that plasticy-ness.

I love the sound of my toms, they have coated over clear G1s.
