Blind Guardian were formed in 1984. With there small gigs, before their debut album, they had already made a reputaion for themselves of being an excellent live band, who brought on great shows. There first real tour was after the release of their debut album, Battlaions Of Fear (1988). From this point and on they had 150 to 300 fans a night. But after the release of their second album, Follow The Blind (1989), Hansi Kursch, who was bass player for the band at the time, had an appendix operation, which made the band leave their plans for touring for while. But in the years that followed, the popularity of the band grew heavily,especially because of their next album, Tales From The Twilight World (1990). Their live attendance got bigger and bigger. IN germany they toured for 3 weeks, and had an attendance of 500 to 800 fans every night.
Then came the release of the album Somewhere Far Beyond(1992). It was the first time for the band that one of their albums was in the top of the international charts. The first time they went to the far east, in Japan, they had an amazing crowd of 4000 fans. They made a live album about this called Tokyo Tales (1993).
After the album Imaginations From The Other Side(1995), the band toured all over Europe. Sometimes revisted the same country several times. In some of the larger cities, there was up to 3000 fans.
IN 2203, the band made a festival, with over 6000 fans. This can be watched on the live DVD Imaginations Through The Looking Glass. There drummer, Thomen Stauch left the band but was replaced the drummer now in the band, Frederik Ehmke.
Their new album is scheduled to be released around spring 2006.
