I was first introduced to The Mars Volta by my friend, who had De-Loused I didnt think much of it, called Cedric a woman and never had a second listen. Over the next year he would talk about At The Drive In. Them too I didn't really get into. Then I heard a song called "The Widow" and I was blown away. It was awesome, it had gentle acoustic guitar, wailing vocals, and ear shredding guitar. So when Frances The Mute came out, and it was only about 10 Dollars I jumped at the chance to buy it. And I fell in love with it, it was like Pink Floyd/Led Zeppelin mixed in with punk rock to create something totally new and amazing. So new and amazing that The Mars Volta has gotten very little Video/Radio coverage on Mainstream Channels/Radio Stations, but has gained a loyal following including yours truly.
And since getting Frances The Mute I have gone back and listen to De-Loused to find that it is also a great album, although in my opinion not as good as Frances The Mute. De-Loused is a great album, but I believe Frances The Mute is a masterpiece.
Cedric has been compared to Robert Plant due to his ability to wail like there's no tommorow. (I personally prefer Cedric's voice). And Omar has been compared to Jimmy Page due to his amazing improvising/soloing skills.
I hadnt listened to Frances The Mute or De-Loused to much recently, but then I decided to download some live videos of The Mars Volta. And there a freaking amazing. Cedric is one of the best frontmen of all time. There is no one current or past who can toss around the mic/micstand like he can. And there's very few as insane on stage as him.
And that is the main reason I made this thread, to ask a simple question. Does anyone know where I could download some video's of The Mars Volta playing material from Frances The Mute. On LimeWire all I could find was De-Loused songs being played live.
And now...loyal Mars Volta fans...speak amongst yourselves. Are you going to see SOAD w/Mars Volta? Have you already seen them live? What's your favourite Mars Volta song? What's your favourite Mars Volta EP? Have you heard Frances The Mute (the song)?
