No this is not for cover bands that try to be exactly like the original! I see no point in that!!! why don't they just let the song be since it's soo good?!?... or try to change/add on to the song so that they have "inproved" it and made it theirs (and thus a different song)????

Well, I guess I'll start off with an obvious... Weird Al is a pro covering a song, yet making it his own. While "White and Nerdy" does in fact sound musically similar to the original, he has changed the lyrics. This makes the song have a completely different purpose/point/mood, making it a new song. (and really funny at that!)

Jazz standards are the same way, although you can typically tell what the base song is, the improv makes it totally a song of that musician playing it. So what do you think, are their any others out there worth listening to??? I'm guessing the jam band world has some good ones, but I was really wondering about the rock world....
