This isn't a spam thread, this is the last serious thread in this side of the forum so please don't ruin it. This time around if I see that you're just posting in order to try to be funny in any form possible, I'll omit your story. And you know to whom I'm talking to. I welcome anyone who wnats to post here, but if you're not at least giving this the recquired seriousness (I mean it's the internets but for fucks sakes behave a little) then just say "I pass" and I'll be happy Anyway... *ehem You know there was this confusion and apparently tojes never showed up so the next guy in line got the privilege to pick this week's subject. Congratulations to all the users and deeply thank you for keeping this alive Anyway, the rules and stuff In case you aren't aware, the Short Story Competitions have been rather successful. Paul150/St. Peter's Truckstop originally started this contest way back in the day, and then it took a hiatus, and now it's back. There were fourteen completed short story competitions during SSC v.2.0, and the fifteenth is going to be decided currently fattymattk says he started it, so we'll give him that lolololol Here are some ground rules (that are fluid and subject to change) for these short story competitions, as dictated by myself and Tojes 1. All stories must be on the given topic. Any stories off-topic will be deleted by Damrod or ignored in the voting thread. Remember that you can tweak the word or the image itself to make it more interesting, but always within the parameters set by the winner 2. All stories must be confined to one post (read: no multi-post stories). A post can have no more than 10,000 characters, so plan accordingly 3. Plagiarism is not tolerated - all stories must be original. Don't be a bastard and copy another author's ideas, or steal his/her characters, or whatever 4. The whole point of the short story competition is to create an original story EACH CONTEST. You're not writing a book of chapters with the same characters, so don't do that. Also, please give your story a title! It is not inspiring to see eight submissions that are all entitled, "Untitled." 5. There will be two threads per contest. The first thread will have the new theme, instructions, and so on. In this thread, you may post your stories and ask questions and discuss. After the submission deadline has passed, a second thread will be made linking to the first; in this thread, you cast your votes. Don't spam; the first thread will remain open so people can give their feedback (and, if requested, grade your short story). Let the voting thread have votes only 6. When you give feedback to the authors in the voting thread, please leave CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM. This means don't be a suck-up or a dick. When you give your feedback, give some pros and cons, and if you feel like it, give their story a rating. It doesn't matter if you do it on a 0-100% scale, or a letter grade (A, A-, B+, etc.), or a number of out five/ten/whatever. You don't need to be a terrific speller or type with the best grammar or have character development, but admittedly, your writing will be more favored if you do so 7.
