in the Archie Comics story "Sound Advice", Mr. Weatherbee quickly gives in to the students' demands, saying in the last panel "(sigh) I folded like a cheap umbrella, Geraldine." However, isn't an umbrella's purpose to fold, and to fold quickly? This is what one would expect from a fancy, brand-new umbrella; a cheap umbrella would fold slowly and poorly, if it folded at all.

what could he have meant?
