I used to pride myself on knowing what to say, and when to say it. Many a time I've put my arm round a crying child who's tiny heart has been crushed and dried the tears with some tender words. Words like "Chin up, It's hard but that's the way life is. You're a good looking girl. Hell, if I were half my age my heart would be throbbing for you right now. There's plenty of guys who will see what I see in you, and the others, well, they're missing out! Life is a beautiful place. Give it another chance!" and then I'd give her a hug and things would all be better. It's a beautiful frame, but it doesn't suit this picture. This time I'm the one doing the heart breaking. This time I actually care about the outcome. But as luck would have it, when it comes to the crunch I'm right out of things to say.
How can I translate the language of my emotions into words, when my emotions are speaking so fast I can't understand them? Why can't I just settle for plagerising some crappy break up song by a generic pop-punk band? Could be that I know I'm making the wrong decision? Could it be because I'm a coward? Who knows, maybe it's both of those things.
So here I stand, all alone, having to reject the girl I love over the telephone. Beleive me, I don't want to. That makes it very hard. But you know what makes it harder? I CAN'T THINK OF A SINGLE THING TO SAY TO HER.
