I mean, the man was about as male chauvinist as they come. He ridiculed the concept of equal rights. He praised the concept of slavery. He even said that inflicting suffering on others "belongs to greatness."

Now I know that men like Kaufmann would explain it all away by saying "Oh well he only meant that in the 'philosophical' sense and never meant for it to be taken literally" but I'm not buying that. Sounds like a desperate explanation to me.
