guitar center is trying to charge me 200 bucks to re-fret my guitar and I can buy a new neck for cheaper than that. But I have a catalog with all the equipment to buy the stuff and do it myself. They sell a small device to tap the frets out of the board, and then a fret press and glue to put new ones in, as well as fret wire and tools to shape them with. Is this as easy as it sounds? My guitar isn't that expensive so if I screw up a whole new neck wouldn't be too much. But if it's basically pointless to try with no previous experience I won't waste the money buying the equipment. I'll just go ahead and buy a new neck, however if it is reasonable to assume that I could do this myself, I'll get the equipment and save myself some money in the long run, and maybe be able to help some of my friends out if they need a fret job.

Should I try it or not?
