Posted at November 25, 2016, 11:38 pm: my friend called me over and told me his dad got a new amp and he wanted me to come over and try it out and have a jam sesh. i agreed and drove over knowing his dad who has a serious G.A.S. problem, i knew it had to be something spectacular because he doens't go for "cheap" stuff. i could hear his son and him jamming(dad on his new amp and his daughter through the bogner ecstasy) the moment i pulled in the drive way and got out of my car i could not stop smiling when i heard the amp... it was incredible. it was a Rivera Knucklehead(KR100) amp head with the matching 4x12 cab. i have always heard of Rivera amps but have NEVER tried one out or heard one in person. it stood up to the Ecstasy when in clean/overdriven tones, but in thick distorted situations it just owned it. i could hear every single string when even in the most high gain situations. i also liked how it sounded different with every guitar we put through it(PRS Singlecut, Gibson LP Classic, McCarty, C-1 Classic, Fender Fat Strat) which can be a good thing since it gives the tone more "personality" but it may also mean you have to mess with the amp even more(which some may hate, but i love it since i enjoy tinkering with amp EQ's) when i looked at the knobs and controls of the amp it reminded me of my mesa mark IV because it had a Push/Pull knobs to either boost/cut the mids and/or bass on the distortion channels. while it has a pull bright and mid switch for the clean channel gah... i was thinking about selling my peavey's for a Dual Rect, but after hearing this amp im going Rivera all the way. it devestated the dual rects i have tinkered with and even preferred it over the roadkings spent hours messing around with at my local guitar center i just wanted to share a revelation-like experience with my fellow MX'ers Original of the message was taken from http://www.sputnikmusic.com/forums/ Replies:Hm.i used to be a Mesa fan boy but not anymore. thanx for the ideas im looking to buy a new amp One of slipknot's guitarist(or both) use rivera amps.
