Pretty exciting thread title, eh?

Now, the purpose of this thread is to enlighten me about American customs concerning food:

- Is it normal to say grace before eating/dining?
- Does one always express gratitude for the meal that's just been eaten? If so, how? (In Denmark you always go 1) "Tak for mad" to which the answer is 2) "Velbekomme" which, roughly translated, means 1) "Thanks for dinner" and 2) "np m8"
- Is it more polite to eat everything on your plate or leave some of it (meaning, respectively, that the food was great, and that there were more than enough of it)?
