Okay guys, how ya doing? This is my new WIP, it was not planned (meaning, when I began it, I didn't know that I was going to make a whole composition of it) but I got caught up in the idea and how I'm running with it. I did try and plan a little bit more before I began - but this is still in the VERY preliminary phase, so anyway, I'm hoping I can get some technical painting crits as I go.
This is my current progress so far: Photo ref used for the pose and expression.
That's two blending layers for the face, will likely do one more... I have not done any intensity layers (soft light brushing, etc) yet - but will when it's more completed.
At this point I'd love to hear anything you have to say about technical hints/tips, etc - anything! Thanks for looking
Just fyi, I've only blocked in the rifle and outpost, so please understand I haven't done a thing to it yet that is planned

If I put my hand over the right side of the face it looks very well.
Well, the face matches my ref, so the model just has a screwed up face...
