I recently decided to see what my A Custom 14" MasterSounds would sound like if I put the bottom cymbal on top, and the top on the bottom. Despite having the mastersound ripples on top, the combination sounded much different then playing with them the normal way.
It seemed to have less wash, and lot more attack. The 'chick' was less subtle, but it was fun to see I can get two toally different sounds out of the same pair of hi-hats.

Is this due to the bottom cymbal being slightly heavier then the top? Anyone ever tried this?
