Hello, I posted one about buying an acoustic guitar here.. I guess about a year ago. and now I'm finally getting an electric guitar!!
I wanted to buy one online initially but my teacher said it wouldn't be good if you can't play it before making the decision.
I'm going with my instructor tommorow.. I want to buy it as soon as possible. He suggested a **Godan(brand) guitar, 21(22?) frets, 3 pickups..** I played it a little bit, but honestly I cannot tell what a good electric guitar should sound like. My ear cannot tell.
---------------------------------------------------------------- Here is what I wanted for the electric guitar.
24 frets, the only reason I want this is so that I get the full range.
( though he advised against it, saying having 24 frets push the pickups away and it just doesn't sound good)<-i would like to know your opinion on this)
able to play both rock&Jazz(and possibly Latin sound, I need the guitar sound to be versatile, having 3 pickups might help I guess)
I think I prefer the mellow, smoooth sound rather than hard rock sound. --------------------------------------------------------------
and I have no idea what amp I'm getting.. really.. no idea.
Does the amp pretty much determine the sound??
I'll probably go with what he suggests, but I don't know.
my budget is about.. 700$ US(I live in Winnipeg, Canada though) for both guitar and amp. I heard that a good beginner's guitar is around 300~500$
so I can up the budget if that's what I need.. I do read a lot of stuff on the web, but I don't know which one to believe..
this is my very first electric and I want to make a good purchase, before getting a very good one in the next couple years. could you please give me any advice?
