Posted at June 28, 2006, 12:42 pm: I've been attempting to play with paints lately, as of now I've never used anything besides the store bought #2 pencil. I recently bought a set of watercolors, and decided my first piece was going to be Poison Ivy, the same drawing a posted earlier in a set of three that I've been modifying the face on to make her look more "pretty" Anyway, I have no experience whatsoever with water color... I am trying a pencil watercolor technique to bring out the clothing, eyes, ivy, and maybe the hair on this drawing. This isn't based off of any "Poison Ivy" artwork, I actually drew this mostly from my own imagination (and some human references), and then made up the outfit, and design of the ivy myself. So everything I'm doing here I have no shadow reference for or anything. My main goal is to have a huge contrast between the tones and shading of pencil in her skin, boots, and gloves, as opposed to the eyes, ivy, and probably her hair (Right now I haven't done the hair yet.) So this is what I started with this morning... (click here to view, if below image doesn't load - this image is smaller than original though) And this is what I have now. Edit: I had to relink these images, Fotki seems to have an issue with remote linking from time to time, so I just linked to the HTML file that has the smaller version of the picture stored. This way if the larger images still do not load, you can still see the smaller image (that isn't that small) of the mentioned piece of artwork. Also, I forgot to mention to ignore the "light line" running down the side of the artwork, that's from the scanner - you'll see it in all of the recent ones I've posted lol.
