How do you personally position your fingers when making a power chord?

a. first finger on the root, third finger barring the third and fifth
b. first finger on the root, fourth finger barring the third and fifth
c. first finger on the root, third finger on the third, fourth finger on the fifth

Also, which is the most "correct" technique?

i leave out the octave.
