In a book I read, it said that while you can get tuners that will allow you to tune your bass easily, it's good to learn to tune your bass by ear (ie, tune your A to a tuning fork or another, in-tune instrument, and then tune other strings relative to the A) because it will improve your ear skills and help you to hear when you're out of tune. What do you think of this, is it good advice or should I just stick with my tuner? I have tried to tune by ear before and find it difficult.
