Adopt a Newbie 2.0
Okay. As some of you know, yesterday, I took it upon myself to turn ProSeries into a good poster. Recently, some vets decided it would be a good idea to restart the Adopt a Newbie (note, not n00b) program. The idea is simple:
1. A vet sees a new poster who they feel can improve.
2. They claim this newbie as a 'pupil' in this thread.
3. If the new person agrees to his/her new mentor, the mentor will post regular progress reports in this thread. More on these reports later.
4. Hopefully, with this new system, we can cut down on crappy threads/posters. By encouraging good posting instead of discouraging people the normal way, we can make these boards a much better place.
Report Cards
They should consist of the following:
1. Tell the person some things you like about some of their posts. They need to know what they are doing right.
2. Also, point out what they are doing wrong. But do it nicely. Tell them specific areas, i.e. punctuation/grammar, in which they can improve.
3. Include a way to mark their progress with a grade of some sort. As long as they can tell how they're doing, the grading system can vary from time-to-time.
Note: This is meant to be a fairly serious thread. Please, only post in here if you're serious about an adoption.
By the way, my adopted newbie is ProSeries.
