Posted at April 27, 2016, 7:12 pm: what's up guys...well my band's first gig is on friday...its in the bottom of a church...theres about 9 other local bands playing...just a few questions...f first of all 1. i have a crate 1x12 combo amp...65W...the area we'll be playing in is about 50yd's by 50yd's and the ceiling is about 15 ft high if that matters(half an american football field), well atleast thats the only part of the area that people will be in...its most likely bigger than that, but i doubt the place will fill up...now what i'm wondering is if my amp will be powerful enough...now i can borrow my friend's peavy head and 2x12 cab if i want to, but i'd rather use my crate because: a. it has a tuner on it and i use that frequiently...i dont have a footswitch tuner, so i'd have to unplug to tune if i used the peavy b. i have my tone all set and good to go, and i've never even seen the peavy so i have no clue what it's gonna sound like or how to use it and such... the other option is just to borrow the 2x12 cab and hook it up to the speaker out on my amp and that should be plenty right? 2. I dont know if were going to be hooked into the pa or what...but were about the 4th band playing and we have about 10 minutes to set up, so im wondering how should i know when im loud enough...because if there not hooking us into the pa and leveling it themselves...then i wont really know when im loud enough... 3. we have 20 minutes, so we're planning on playing 3 of our own songs, and then we have two covers(Rollercoaster by blink 182and either a taking back sunday song or a green day song)...i'm wondering in what order should we play our set...one of our songs is a very punk/posthardcore sounding song which is very influenced by blink 182 and it has a nasty hardcore breakdown after the second chorus...its called pizza time because we were waiting for pizza when we wrote it and the car kept going by my house, another one of our songs is also very blink influenced/sounding and i think its our best all around song...(as far as how we play it and how it sounds). this one's called blue light run, dont ask about the name lol, our last song is a very hardcore sounding song(all vocals are screaming its a real pump up song...we were planning on playing this last and having our drummer/singer get up during a breakdown and running all over the place...and just continue the breakdown till he makes it back to his seat...), this song is called 3 bullets left because all these bands have songs like number 5 with a bullet, number one with a bullet blah blah... so if you have any ideas for the order of our set let me know... i was thinking 1.pizza time 2.blue light run 3.rollercoaster 4.green day or tbs cover 5.3 bullets left... lemme know what you think...oh and my band's myspace is www.myspace.com/toourdismay oh and there's no recordings yet...but hopefully we'll get to record this saturday at our bassist's house... thanks for any replies. you guys are awesome.
