Hiya,

I'm hoping to get a couple of reasonable priced first guitars (made by Archer), the
SS34(http://www.interstatemusic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10021&storeId=10051&produ ctId=900020973&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=45279) in Transparent Red,

and the SS14(http://www.interstatemusic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10021&storeId=10051&produ ctId=900005457&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=45279) in Transparent Green.

Obviously I may want different pickups. I do like Seymour Duncans. Would it be worth fitting new ones in guitars of this price range to make them good first guitars (I think the construction of them is very good for the price so I've heard), and to have them as back-up/alternative guitars for when I get more expensive instruments? If so what pickups would you suggest? I like a powerful 'metal' tone, but also the option to play other styles, rock, blues etc. What do you think of Seymour Duncan Invaders?

The amp I hope to have to begin with is a Hughes and Kettner Matrix 100.
