Yes, I'm back for a quick pop-in.
I recently adopted a puppy. One day, my mother took him out for me but didn't lock his crate in my room. Upon arriving home, my sheepskin rug was tousled and my good guitar cable was sprawled across the floor while he was lying there with a grin on his face.
I had been using a Groove Plugs Silver Match Series "Super Noiseless Instrument Cable (Triple Shielded)" to connect my pedals to my GUITAR. It was around $15 for 15ft. at Sam Ash. This was the cable he chewed.
I have a series of 6in. DiMarzio cables for coupling my pedals, and then a generic Mars Music 10ft. cable connecting the pedals to my amp.
The initial upgrade to the Groove Plugs cable did wonders in reducing the crackling and anything else breaking my signal, including movement around the input jack.
I went to Sam Ash to buy another one, but they evidently had NO Groove Plugs cables. I asked someone there I'd bought from many times before and he suggested a two-pack of SAMSON Audio IC20 instrument cables. (You've never heard of them have you?) They were only $20 for two 20ft. cables with a lifetime warranty, but I feel they're not doing the job.
I'd like to scrap them and look for a REALLY good pair of cables. I'm sure many of you "guitar-amp" players wouldn't know the differences in cables, but with a slew of effects, you can hear where problems arise.
So basically, I'm looking for a DURABLE cable of about 15 to 20 feet that above all, keeps quiet under all circumstances.
I was looking online and considered buying one of those Silver Match GP cables and one long DiMarzio cable, but without trying them and actually seeing/touching the cable, I can't decide so readily.
Could you guys give me a hand with any cable experiences so I can make my next cable purchase my last?
