Hey i have often seen many guitars for sale with the saying 'not a scratch on them' and was wondering how this is possible? my guitar is covered in scratches no matter how hard i try to avoid them. It has a huge one from a now old friend strumming crazily on it and hundreds of others. Polishing seems to only make matters work. any tips on avoiding them and possible rectifying my current ones? the are not deep like a knife would scratch and they do not penetrate the surface of the body i think its just marks on the polish. It sonds really petty and i am not a fan of guitars being kept pristine, they should be played otherwise why have them but would like to no how to keep it realitively new looking.

any advice would help
