Hey, lately I've been getting interested in getting into the world of amplification and tone modeling. Not from a buyers perspective, but from that of a builder. Now, I am not very well versed in electronics of any kind, apart from some basic knowledge from highschool Physics books.
I thought, rather than spending a lot of money and playing with a lot of voltage, by trying to build a basic amplifier, I'd try and make a preamp of some sort. Now, the idea is to build something from scratch, or mod out something second hand that's nice and cheap, the idea being that I don't really want to play about with my $800 amp.
This project is by no means going to be some sort of pretentious "I wanna build a MESA lawl" kind of thing. Think baby steps. I need something relatively simple, that preferably uses some sort of tube signal chain.
So, I was wondering if there are any books, websites, pieces of invaluable advice, or ideas for projects that anyone could give me, before I start really letting some ideas formulate.
