Good evening all (it's evening here (early morning actually)).

I have been playing bass for nearly five years now. I had lessons for about a year (maybe 30 thirty-minute lessons), but haven't had anything for a long time. It seems like I don't really improve anymore. I am happy with the level I am at with my playing, but it's hard to guage where I'm at. I guess there's not really a level I "should" be at, but my playing's kind of stagnated a bit. Last song I learnt was Naked in the Rain by the 'Chili Peppers which didn't cause too many problems - sounds good though! Should I have learnt Classical Thump by now? I have no motivation to learn something like that; I'd prefer to learn something like Naked in the Rain for example.

The Decline by NOFX is probably the most challenging song I know, purely because it's hard to remember an 18 minute song that doesn't really have a chorus! Technically, Right on Time by RHCP is hard to play (I only use two fingers), and I have been able to play Maxwell Murder for three or four years, just it sounds better now. My improv & fills are probably my best stuff really.

Anyone here been playing for five years or thereabouts? What level are you at? What are the best/most challenging songs you can play? Have you become content with the level you are at (like I have)???
