I've been trying to find out people's opinions on a certain bidding practice where people bid on auctions to raise the price of the items but without wanting to win those items. I know this is usually considered shill bidding, but in the case I am thinking of, the bidder is not an associate of the sellers in any way. Ebay and just about everywhere else that talks about shill bidding mentions that the bidder is working together with the seller.
