I'll not ask you why Oku take his break, I reassure you
Even if I won't talk of Gantz, I think this topic has his place here^
Yesterday, a corean fan send me an email with some pics of the Young Jump with a pin-up who looks like to Reika. After some research, I discovered that Oku begin a new manga intitled " Me-Teru no Kimochi ".

A friend translate the text and apparently the manga talk about a 30 years old guy who remained 15 years locked into his room (remember you in GTO, the son of a Yakuza who didn't leave of his bedroom since his mother's dead, it's the same thing here^^
So, the break of Oku wasn't for think about the scenario of Gantz but to launch his new manga :
