Hi, new to this site.

I own a forum, like this one but diff subject. Im trying to make a Header and a banner. Just wondering if i would use Illustrator for this kind of stuff?

I want the header to be similar to the one here, or like the one from vbulletin.org ... something simple with tabs/buttons.. the board name

If illustrator is the software i need, how would i get started? What size 'artboard' (hope that term is right) would i need
