So in my recent personal artistic endeavours, to help with my anatomy I've been wanting to try some human gesture studies "out in the wild" if you will. I've no problem FINDING people, I have several lounge/study areas on campus that are always packed with people.
My problem is that I'm afraid people will catch me! Being a mostly observational practice, gesture studies lend themselves a little too well to being mistaken for a creepy stalker guy who likes to hang out in lounges and stare at people. Do you guys have any secrets or tips for being a covert artist or any other helpful information in general for gesture studies.
As an aside question, how does one go about drawing more active subjects, such as people playing frisbee in a park? Right now to me it seems almost impossible to adequately observe a running target, so is it a matter of doing so many gestures you can just capture it in a fraction of a second through practice or do you build up some kind of internal camera that lets you take a snapshop in action and then you replicate that on the paper? Something completely different?
