Hey all. I was looking through a bunch of books and the ARC website to try and find a piece I really could learn alot from to paint, but I realized that not only have I never used oil paints- but I don't own any. Just acryllics. Should I:

--Do it digitally, from a planned out drawing? (Without color picking mind you)

--Go buy Oils and turpentine or turpenoid or linseed oil or whatever and figure it out

--Get a high quality print of it and do it in Graphite/charcoal

By doing it digitally, I would lose out on alot of the knowledge to be gained, but it wouldn't make a mess and I could work on it without having to plan out periods of time in my schedule.

By doing Oil, it's pretty much the contrary. More knowledge, more mess, more prep/cleaning time.

In Graphite I miss alot of the painting technique and color usage, but learn to control values better. I would have to protect it from smearing and all, but the clean up/prep time is virtually 0.
