Hello, a few friends and I are working on making a few toys we designed. They are probably going to be similar to the stuff you see on kidrobot (www.kidrobot.com). We are new to this and not too sure about the process yet. We're gonna need around 15-30 copies of each toy. We have 2 options so far.

One is, we are going to model our design with Maya and 3d print it in either FDM or plaster, and then cast and mold copies.

The other option is to model it in sculpey and then cast and mold it.

We need to know what is most commonly done.

Also, some designs are more action figuire (Lots of details and limbs etc). Im not sure about the capabilities of casting and molding so how exactly do you make multiples of more complicated pieces?

And of course, are there any companies you guys can recommend that can print multiple copies in either vinyl or resin?

Do most people make all the copies themselves or send it out to get it done?

Any additional links can be helpful too. We'll try to post some designs up as soon as possible.
