Posted at September 7, 2006, 11:23 am: Hi there, I'm starting up a thread on Entertainment Art Academy, both online and at the Pasadena location. This school has just recently materialized as an online presence. www.entertainmentartacademy.com I'd like to correspond with others involved or interested in EAA. Over the summer I enrolled at Art Academy SF Online, but I wasnt able to assemble enough financial aid to cover the first semester. I had made the mistake of enrolling in Art Institute Online in spring, which ended up being a waste of time and money. So after two fruitless starts with online art schools, I was becoming disenchanted with the whole idea. For the record I'm grounded in Chicago, yet art schools here just don't offer the type of education I'm looking for. Meanwhile over the summer I had been picking up quite a few art technique books. I found Mike's Force drawing book, which in turn led me to his internet video instruction site. That ultimately brought me to EAA, which is launching the online sessions as I type. From what I know, EAA is not a conventional degree granting school, at least right now. To be honest, I think that the degree schools aren't offering much in return for the monstrous tuition rates. Instead of sweating out a financial aid application period, I was able to pay for my entire 1st sememster of classes out of pocket. Well, that's where my credit card is... I'm looking forward to the EAA experience. Mike's Force videos alone taught me more about figure drawing than a full session of life drawing class at AIO. Screw the $70,000 BFA. I know there are a few other people here in a similiar situation as me. It might be worth checking out.
