Posted at October 3, 2006, 3:56 am: Hello all, I'm interested in paying someone to do some concept art for a simple game I am putting together. I will admit that my budget is limited - less than $500 USD (one off payment) for 5-6 concept level drawings/blueprints (read on if interested). The game is a bit like a scrolling beat 'em up although is done from an isometric perspective. It uses a single prerendered image for the backdrop (2d game). I already have the characters rendered and ready to go. The game is a 'fantasy' setting with goblins, ghosts, skeletons etc - a little like Golden Axe or Gauntlet. I've created some basic test levels which work fine as a testing area. So what is the concept art needed for then? Levels and/or Environments. I am hoping to purchase some concept art that I can work from to create the level - kind of like blueprints (ie I'd construct the level in a modeling tool using the concept art as a guide). To give an idea of the size of these levels, the playable characters are around 150 pixels tall (head to foot - not the size of the image frame) with the environment being no larger than 3200x2400 pixels (at the very largest) down to as little as 1200x1200 pixels. The concept art for these levels, more blueprints in a way, don't need to be as large as the level themselves - I'm leaning towards a sketch of about 800x600 pixels in size. I am not intending to have many levels - no more than about 5 or 6 with each level's gameplay taking around 3 minutes for an experienced player to complete a level. If you are interested then can you please let me know by email (address in profile), let me know what price range I'd be expected to pay, and it would be helpful to point me to other artwork you have done in the past. If anyone wants further details on the project I'm working on then let me know here, I am more than happy to post extra information.
