Posted at September 27, 2015, 11:39 am: I asked Derek if I could start up a log here and he gave me full permission. I began my bulking program with Derek on Sunday(Oct 1) and it will run for 12 weeks. Let me give you a bit of my history. I was always athletic and active as a kid, but I was always a bigger kid. Back in 2000 I reached my heaviest weight of 270lbs. At that time my father suffered a heart attack which had a big impact on my life both physically and mentally. He came through everything just fine and when he came back home things had to change around the house. Because of his new dietary needs my whole house changed the way we ate. With some proper nutrition and sporadic weight training I was able to start shedding lbs with ease. By the time I left to attend college at the University of Pittsburgh in 2002 I was down to 210. Like so many others, my diet began to slip because of the quantity of food and beer at my disposal. Around the middle of my freshmen year I made it my goal to buck the "freshmen 15" and lose more. It became my obsession in a lot of ways to cut down on my weight continually. By the time I entered college as a jr i was down to 175lbs, but wasnt happy. People all around me were telling me I was getting too skinny and finally I knew I was too. Thats when I first bulked. My first bulk was a huge mental struggle to deal with. After trying to lose weight for so long the idea that it was ok to gain confused me. With the help of bb.com and a few good friends made on the forum I was able to get through it. Over the course of my jr year I went from 175lb in September to 193lbs by April. Then I maintained for a while before cutting down to 185lbs. Last year, during my senior year at Pitt I bulked up to 205lbs. Then I found Derek's forum and began to look into different approaches to dieting. Once the Cut Diet book came out I purchased it and went straight into dieting mode. For the past 8 weeks or so I used the Cut Diet to drop 1.5lbs but I look much fuller than I have in past cuts. Now Im a client with Derek looking to attain more mass. I feel with his help with my training and dieting that I will be able to reach my next goal of 220lbs by the Arnold or sooner. So what Im here to do is keep myself dedicated to this program by updating this thread as often as I can. I figure with Derek watching over my progress and everyone else seeing what I do I can make it to my goal.
