I already posted this in my training journal, but I figured I'd share with you cats over here as well. Enjoy and hopefully you guys will get something out of it. Peace, G

Watching the Animal Arms DVD made me think of the opportunities I've had to train with Wrath and how intense it was... On one such instance we trained legs, and were basically exhausted but we got off of our asses and got it done any damn way.

We were training at a small gym in Central Jersey at around 9pm on a weeknight in September. As we walked from my Jeep we both talked about how we never train legs in short sleeves cuz we have no upper body pump and felt small--the dude is a ****ing beast, so the fact that he shared similar hang-ups made me feel like less of a psycho... It was relatively dead and quiet in the gym and because of our affiliation with Universal, the staff was very welcoming and hospitable.

We started off with light leg extensions... Wrath does these first every time because his knees are banged up and he likes to thoroughly warm up the region. I've used it as a pre-exhaust technique in the past and have noticed that guys like Ronnie and Yates often do extensions first as well.

Next, we loaded up the leg press and went essentially rep for rep. Piling the plates on doing at least 20 reps per set. On the last set, the machine was fully loaded and we had to dig deep... I gutted out 20 reps, then Wrath went and did 30+. His legs were shaking and he had his nike track pants pulled up to his knees. You could see a vein around his shin bone pulsating with every rep.

We moved on to the hack squat and did 4 sets, getting up to an excruciating set of 10+ with 5 plates per side.

Just when I though we were done, we moved onto a plate loaded cybex squat machine and proceeded to load that bitch to the hilt... 4 more sets here, setting a new number each time for the other to hit. On the last set, I hung with Wrath rep for rep as we did 15+ each with the machine loaded to have 8 plates a side. It was crazy... Wrath would flex his quads almost violently at the top of each rep.

After each of our final sets, we were literally on the floor--like bodies thrown from the wreckage of a train accident. Sucking wind, composing myself, trying not to puke, I stumbled away from the machine and knelt on the floor in the empty gym. My boy, who barely trains, was there running distance on the treadmill while we did wheels. He was there to observe the last sets of the session. Upon witnessing the mess that was the aftermath of our workout, he exclaimed, "Now that's a f*ckin video."

Bottom line, Wrath is a bad dude and training with him was exceptionally motivating and inspiring. If that dude lived around here, I'd be 20 lbs bigger, just from the effects of having to step up my game.
