Posted at August 27, 2014, 4:30 pm: I am soon to graduate from Western Culinary Institute in the culinary program. I have recently realized that what I really want to do pastry arts. I was an artist long before culinary school and I know that I have the skills and the artistic eye to be an amazing cake decorator. I'm also quite talented with pulled sugar. It's rather easy to find what culinary schools in the country are considered the best, but I'm having a hard time finding out what is considered to be the best pastry program. I really want to find one that has a lot of the artistic side of it all. I mean, baking bread is fun, but I don't want it to be my career So basically, my questions are What schools are known for having the best pastry program At what school do you think you get the most bang for your buck? (I just dished out 38,000 to WCI, after all. I don't have a money tree. And what about the French pastry school in Chicago? The program looks interesting. I heard you don't get a degree, but I already have one, so that's not too big of a deal. Plus it's only 17,000. Would I learn all I need to know there Should I just forget school and try to learn it all by working Opinions? Links to good info?
